Alumni is the new outlet from Kenny Grieve (DABJ) and Simon Stokes from Shoogle Studios in Glasgow.  The basic idea is to be an outlet for some of the talent coming out of the Shoogle school, and this place seems to be the Hogwarts of music production going off this first EP.  Featuring 4 stone cold killers and a production sound thats proper magic I reckon there might be a queue at the school door the day after release.

I am not surprised, the heads behind this are really on it and behind some of my favorite music from the past few years, ARG101 is diverse as it is…chunky. Lifecoaches opener is a heady mix of held keys working against acid and arpeggios which weave in and out of existence in just the right way, keeping the same dreamy but dance-able aesthetic Oaklands is in the same kind of feeling but with a life of its own. There is a skill on show here on the EP that’s rare.

On the other side, Aisha’s slow burner flips the script… dropping the Acid down a gear in a rhythmic syncopation that really hits the spot making it our fav on the EP. Really taking us somewhere else for the final track is Sarah Miller a big uplifting summer track full of horns. You can’t go wrong with that.

They do not fuck about this Shoogle Studios. Check it out.
