These days (and for the best part of 18 months) deep house has been perceived as something totally off the mark in my opinion. Commercialisation of music to the masses via the media seamlessly shifts the meaning of a genre into something completely different. The release I want you to listen to today is deep house as ‘we’ know it – A 4 track record by Giulio Etiope on Italian label Unclear records who delivers a cool and wholesome array of well produced, plump house music featuring Giak & Hester.

You can really feel the instruments used throughout, especially on the title track ‘Riverside’, and I’m particularity fond of the re-recorded vocals from Ella Fitzgeralds ‘Summertime’ which opens the record with the aptly named track – Summertime. There is also a remix from Delsin’s Gerry Read who lays down a faster paced version of Riverside for those interested. This beauty is out in March on the 8th.
