Why No Dough?, funnily enough it happens to be everything we stand for, now don't get me wrong...we do not mean we give everything away for free, nor do we think music should be given away. Everything we do is about creating worth, nothing we do is worthless.
When I (Antonio) first started No Dough Music in 2006, it was a time in my life when things changed and pretty quickly. I was a young man if you will, not long out of education and after suffering a self inflicted broken leg...I had just moved over to Spain after growing up in sunny England. Lets be clear I was a dj, that was my thing, travelling playing gigs, even driving for others. All this came to an abrupt end, at least for a short while. It's times like these, when you lose a lot of normality. When what you used to do day in day out, is taken away from you...you fall back on what mosts important.
For both of us that wasn't money, it was music we fell back on to keep going.
So No Dough started on the fact that all we had was our music and that was enough, enough to be happy and to share that with the world. At this time we had not met each other yet, it was in 2007 we finally hooked up and started to think about what we wanted to do. For us then it was all about creation, working on music, samples and artwork and enjoying what we were doing. We are all about the journey, what happens once the song is complete doesn't matter, it's all about that glorious time in the studio, working...obsessing.
Everything we stand for is simple, we want value, everything has to have value, we ain't no Toolroom style business dominating the beatport top100 or even wanting to, our releases on NDV will be less numerous but made with a lot of love and care, and by artists who are pushing themselves to the brink to bring you emotional house/techno music. We are heavily against the rinse and repeat tactics of the music "industry", and want you to join our little scene. This year we will bring you some special EP's full of timeless music that all smell a little bit like vinyl and sound like gold.
It's now 2012, this could be the last year ever if you believe the internet. So lets make it count.
